GDM doesn't work well with large trackpads

Description
For quite a while, I've had an issue with my password in GDM being either partially cleared or having my mouse cursor moved from the end of the text to somewhere in the middle or the start, and I think I've finally figured out the issue.
I have a laptop when a large trackpad (unibody MacBook Pro), and when typing, my palms (near the thumbs) often touch the trackpad. Therefore, I always disable "tap to click" (actually, I do on any laptop, but it's especially an issue with large trackpads). However, this cannot be (easily, at least) disabled in GDM. I don't think this is a good user experience, especially in an age of many single user systems, where users expect their settings to be propagated across the entire system.
There are a few possible resolutions I can think of:
- Detect if there is a single "human" user, and use that user's settings.
- Add a configuration option - adds clutter, but is very straightforward
- Detect all users, and if all have tap to click disabled, disable it. Could be slow on systems with lots of users.
