cabinet (.cab) files with installshield headers need to use different tool for extraction
an attempt to load one of these files shows an error with no indication as to what really happened
cabextract tells you:
[ohsix@pro tmp]$ cabextract data1.cab
data1.cab: WARNING; found InstallShield header. Use unshield (https://github.com/twogood/unshield) to unpack this file
data1.cab: no valid cabinets found
All done, errors in processing 1 file(s)
and unshield does work:
[ohsix@pro plop]$ unshield x ../data1.cab
Cabinet: ../data1.cab
extracting: ./A3D_Debug_Viewer/sdk/bin/a3dapi.dll
extracting: ./Samples/sdk/src/loading/loading.cpp
extracting: ./Samples/sdk/src/loading/loading.dsp
extracting: ./Samples/sdk/src/loading/loading.mak
extracting: ./Samples/sdk/src/ia3dutil/ia3dutil.c
thanks!
