moving away from large message, renderer does not stop (and 4 associated problems)
Using latest evolution and webkit releases (i.e. in Fedora 31)...
If I have a large message in my inbox and I move to it with preview enabled, the message takes a long time to render, with no indication that evolution is waiting for the rendering to finish. This long time to render is a problem 1. Not providing an indication that evolution is waiting for rendering is problem 2.
But most of all, the biggest problem (3) is that if I finally give up on waiting for the rendering and moving the cursor to another message, that does not stop the rendering of the large message in favour of the newly selected message. One has to go and manually kill the webkit process that is grinding away on the rendering.
Actually there is a problem 4. One cannot move one's mouse cursor out of the evolution message preview pane while the rendering happens. Well, one can, but once the rendering is complete and one clicks back into the preview pane to scroll through the message, the rendering is restarted. So this is problem 5.
