Cannot see all folders
I have a set of currently active (and subscribed) folders, e.g.
- INBOX
- bugzilla
- lists (doesn't really exist)
- lists.evolution
- lists.kvm
- lists.linux-kernel
I periodically run a script to archive these into e.g.
- archives.2023q4.INBOX
- archives.2023q4.bugzilla
- archives.2023q4.lists.evolution
- archives.2023q4.lists.kvm
- archives.2023r4.lists.linux-kernel
Evolution (imapx) is configured to show all folders, and only to check for new mail in subscribed folders. There's not a lot of point in checking the archive folders for new mail.
The problem is that it doesn't show me all the folders. Whole subtrees of archives/ just don't appear unless I subscribe to some folder inside that subtree. So at the moment, for example...
$ ssh twosheds.infradead.org exec /usr/libexec/dovecot/imap <<< '00 LSUB "" *' | grep archives
* LSUB () "." archives.2016q3.outgoing
* LSUB () "." archives.2023q1.INBOX
* LSUB () "." archives.2023q1.badreply
* LSUB () "." archives.2023q1.lists.kvm
* LSUB () "." archives.2021q3.lists.kvm
And that's all I see in Evolution:
Except, all the subfolders of 2023q1 and 2021q3 are actually visible of I click to open those up. I can click on those folders (even the unsubscribed ones) and open them. But the other years/quarters aren't visible at all. I have to 'manage subscriptions', then subscribe to some folder therein, then unsubscribe, and that subtree is visible. (2016q3 doesn't exist any more. It's so old that I moved it to a separate store).
This is an older version of Evolution (3.44.4-0ubuntu2 on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS) but it's been like this for a while now, and I doubt it's been fixed since I haven't got round to filing the bug... until now.
