When no text is preselected, clicking the Hyperlink toolbar button action in markdown composer mode should show the hyperlink insertion dialog
When in the markdown composer, if you have selected text before clicking the hyperlink button, it will enclose that text within the [ ]
, add the (https://)
and preselect the HTTPS part for you so that you can paste/replace the URL, without needing an extra dialog, which makes perfect sense in this case.
However, when there is no text selected in advance, what it does is just insert [](https://)
and preselect the HTTPS part. The problem with that, however, is that you can forget (or be unaware) that simply pasting the URL in there would create an invalid invisible hyperlink, because the description/label part is missing and needed.
So in that particular case, it should still use the regular Evolution composer hyperlink insertion dialog:
...and either require the description field to be set, or if it's left blank, then copy the URL into the resulting description field too.
(I also think this dialog should be a GtkPopover instead, but that's something else; issue #1683 (closed))
