HTML signatures lose formatting in "Markdown to HTML" emails
When writing an email using the "Markdown to HTML" feature, if the user has set an HTML signature, the signature loses the original HTML formatting.
Steps to repeat
- Set the default message format to "Markdown as HTML".
- Create a new HTML signature, and add it as default to one account.
- Compose new email.
- Check how the signature looks in the "Preview" tab of the email.
Observed behaviour
The HTML signature is converted to markdown, and then back to HTML, loosing all formatting (images, links, etc...). If the user explicitly added the signature as HTML, it should then expect that, when writing a "Markdown to HTML" email, the HTML of the signature remains intact.
Expected behaviour
When writing a "Markdown to HTML" email, if the signature is already in HTML, it should just append the signature to the email. This is how other Markdown to HTML email clients such as MailMate behave. Read more here.
This assures compliance with organisations that require HTML signatures.
