Upgrade from 3.40.3 to 3.40.4 breaks filters / other corruption on EWS

from 3.40.3-1 to 3.40.4-1 breaks filters.
If I use a filter that always matches and pipes the message to a external program as its action, the actual message sent to the external program is

Internal filters are partially broken. Emails matching filters and with actions to move them to specific folders end up in trash instead of the target folders to move to.
A couple of emails were seen in some filtered folders with "No Subject" no content similar to the headers piped to external programs.
This was tested with a EWS account, connected through evolution (not gnome online accounts).
Completely deleting ~/.cache/evolution
and ~/.local/share/evolution
and letting it resync does not fix the issue.
Downgrading the three packages to 3.40.3-1 fixes the issue.
