build fixes

The executables need to declare their dependencies on libevdocument/libevview.

While I was there, I cleaned up the build a slight bit and removed the extraneous shell reference documentation which hadn't been updated in a long while, is for an uninstalled library, and one that shouldn't even exist (and is removed by the main commit in this series).
