Back to Link
This is a request for adding a 'Back to Link' button.
Features of this button
- Coming back to the page where a link is after clicking on it. This allow better navigation in the document, for mouse and touch users.
- This button 'remembers' (1) the location of the link, and (2) the zoom level that was used before clicking on the link.
- This button take the form of an overlaid button in the document view, either with an arrow or with a label with an arrow (see screenshots below).
- This button only appears after clicking on a link inside a page (not inside the outline).
On the following two screenshots, the link points to 'CHAPTER 10. REGISTERING THE HYPERVISOR AND VIRTUAL MACHINE':
Additional feature
- A 'Restore zoom' button (or 'Restore Initial Zoom' button if it is necessary to be clearer) may also appear if the link has changed the zoom level. This way, users have the possibility to restore the zoom level they used before clicking on a link. This button 'remembers', like the 'Back to Link' button, the zoom level that was used before clicking on the link.
Improvements
As you might have noticed in previous screenshots, the buttons cover the title the link points to, which is not very elegant. The following two improvements can be made (see also the screenshots below which illustrate them):
- Show the destination of the link under the buttons, with a small margin between the two.
- Move the destination of the link to the right with a little margin, which improves the readability of the text (the text is not glued to the edge of the window or the sidebar).
