Notification refers to newly opened pages as "Blank page" until page content is loaded
- Epiphany 41.0
- GNOME 41.1
- Arch Linux
When clicking a link in another app, which then opens it in the in the default browser will make Epiphany trigger a notification about Web being ready if the app is on another workspace or ubstructed by another window on the same workspace. The problem is that in the notification it will refer to the newly opened page as "Blank page" until the page finished loading upon which it replaces "Blank page" with the page title.
Reproduce;
- Have Epiphany as the preferred browser
- Open Epiphany and place it on another workspace (Or hide it behind a maxed window on the same workspace)
- Open a link through another application triggering the default browser to load it
- Notice the notification
Web --- 'Blank page' is ready
- Wait a few seconds for it to load the page and notice it change to
Web --- 'Hello World!, website title example!' is ready
I feel like this behaviour could be more elegant. Maybe only notify when the page actually finished loading? Or would that be too disconnected from the action of clicking a link since it takes a few seconds to load the page giving a delayed notification.
Another potential alternative would be to steal focus like Firefox and Chrome/Chromium do and not notify. I do see pros and cons to this method, as it is quite invasive yet most users will be expecting this behaviour.
