Feature request: respect wildcard patterns in command line
I have a directory with thousands of automatically-generated images, created once per hour by some data-acquisition software. If I want to look at just the 24 images from July 1, 2019, I do this on the command line:
eog 2019-07-01*.jpg
What this should do is open eye of gnome with 24 images in the slideshow pane that I can cycle through. What it does instead is open all 10,000 .jpg files in the directory. Very inconvenient.
Sometimes as a workaround I copy the files I want to view to a temporary directory and run eye of gnome there, which is ridiculous. Can eye of gnome be modified so that it opens only the files the user has requested?
