Copying the image path should not have `file://` prefixed
I found that I could press ctrl+c to copy the path to the current image. However, instead of the absolute path I would expect (/home/marcel/Pictures/...
), I get a link with the file://
protocol prepended (file:///home/marcel/Pictures/...
). I understand why it is there, but I would argue that most users and most situations do not want this. For example, If I try to give that "path" as an argument to cp
, I get an error:
cp: cannot stat 'file:///home/marcel/...': No such file or directory
The use-case here was to find a specific picture in my phone's camera roll folder, copy the path, and use the path to copy the image to the figures
folder of a latex project using the cp
command. I know I can right-click, save as, but I don't want to go digging for a folder I already have open in a terminal.
I have run into situations before where whatever I was pasting the path into did not understand the file://
protocol. I don't think I have ever had a program handle this kind of path properly.
What do you think about removing the file://
part when copying the file path? Maybe there is some situation that requires it that I am missing?
