Warning about overwriting GError when unlinking a directory while viewing
i was using eog
on a directory of a few dozen images. while it was looking at those images, the whole directory was unlinked with rm -rf
. When that happened, eog
issued several copies of the following complaint on stderr:
(eog:63430): GLib-WARNING **: 16:27:25.238: GError set over the top of a previous GError or uninitialized memory.
This indicates a bug in someone's code. You must ensure an error is NULL before it's set.
The overwriting error message was: Error in getting image file info
This isn't an urgent issue for me -- nothing crashed in my experience, but it's an indication that the control flow and memory management might not be as clean as you'd want it to be, which might suggest other more subtle problems.
