New plugin: Images manager
I'm currently working on two plugins that I would like integrating in eog or eog-plugins.
This two plugins are totally independent and don't change eog's behavior.
The first plugin is a toolbar to interact with the current image displayed. It contains some basic filters, crop, scale, etc.
The first button that you can see called "Gallery" display the iconview as a grid and you can zoom in/out the thumbnails.
The other plugin is an images manager. It adds an iconview at the left of the scrollview and display all folders containing images retrieved with gnome tracker.
Or by month:
Note that the date displayed are either their exif dates (creation date) or the last time it has been modified.
Also, when we click on a folder the iconview is also displayed as a grid.
The two plugins are totally compatible together:
Each time there are an image created/deleted the manager updates with tracker to add the new folder (or remove it).
It has been tested on debian stretch and ubuntu focal. Please note the code (that you can get here for the manager and here for the toolbar), is a little messy, I started to learn GTK and glib at the same time with the plugins and the code of Eog was really a big help and I hope you will be understanding. Of course, It's planned to make some modification to improve it.
I think the main difference with gnome-photos is in the simplicity. We have all folders at the left and we can simply scroll to find the folder we want whether by name or by month.
I hope this plugins will be integrated, and please don't hesitate to give your opinions.
If you want to test it and you are on Ubuntu, you can get it from the launchpad with this command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:krifa75/eog-ordissimo
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install eog2
In eog2 it includes an eog with some modification (Some parts proposed in the merges request), the plugins and some pixbuf-loaders like raw images, psd, and webp.
Thank you very much.
