Description
Created attachment 279643 Screen dump: Brasero, alternate drive properties, System Monitor (memory)
Esteemed Brasero Developers and Lurkers:
Current system: Linux Mint 17 Quiana 32-bit Mate running LiveMedia from a LOCKED SD card. HP/Compaq dx2400 Intel core 2 duo w/ 4 GB system Ram NO hard drive.
PROBLEM: If the system disc does not have enough free space for Brasero to create an image, the "Create Image" button is grayed out and can NEVER be enabled. Even if you select a path to an alternate storage device that DOES have plenty of room, the control stays grayed out, so the copy operation can never be started ... it can only be canceled.
I run Linux Mint LiveMedia systems exclusively with NO HARD DRIVE and so only RamDisc is available. The most system memory I have is 4 GB, which is nowhere near large enough to copy a 6 or 7 GB DVD. If I direct the file to a device with plenty of space (64 GB NTSC USB thumb drive with over 32 GB free) the "Create Image" control is never enabled.
I think this was not a problem back around Linux Mint v10, but somewhere since then, this anomaly has crept in and made Brasero unusable on a LiveMedia system.
I am attaching a screen dump that shows the Brasero window with:
- The "Create Image" control grayed out
- An alternate file path selected for the 6.9 GB iso file A drive Properties window for the alternate storage:
- Alternate path drive Properties with 34.9 GB free A System Monitor window:
- Shows about 3.6 GB available system memory
I have approximately the same problem with ISO Image Creator ... once the application determines that there is insufficient memory available on the SYSTEM drive, it does NOT allow the operation to proceed even if an adequate alternative media is selected. I use an older Mint system to get around this problem so that I can burn new versions to SD and USB drives.
Thank you for any and all comments, suggestions, and assistance with this issue. Blessings in abundance, all the best, & ENJOY! Art in Carlisle, PA USA
