nm-openconnect-service / openconnect not logging to syslog (until tunnel established)
On a system not using systemd
(Devuan, Gentoo etc.), even after switching on TRACE
logging:
nmcli general logging level KEEP domains VPN_PLUGIN:TRACE
it seems the logs from nm-service-openconnect
and openconnect
are only logged to syslog after the tunnel is up (via the --syslog
option of openconnect
itself, which logs to syslog after the tunnel is established). All logs from establishing the connection and tunnel startup are not visible in syslog
)only from `NetworkManager itself).
Analyzing the issue, the process tree looks as follows when openconnect
has started:
$ ps xao pid,ppid,pgid,sid,comm | grep -i open
9902 1 9902 7315 nm-openconnect-
10993 9902 9902 7315 openconnect
i.e. nm-openconnect-service
has attached to PID 1, and is not a child of NetworkManager
anymore. Does it rely on regular print
being collected e.g. by systemd
?
