This started the same day I did the upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04LTS to Ubuntu 18.04LTS. Package/system information above. I've attached the output that is sent to syslog each time Evo is started and sometimes when I start or stop XFE. I usually have running Evo, Firefox and at times XFE. I can duplicate the issue each time I start Evolution with XFE it appears to be intermittent.

The creation of **Albums** category; in addition to the pre-existing 3 categories: **Events**, **Folders** and **Tags**.
### Desired behavior
The ability to add a photograph to more than one group (not a tag).
### Benefits of the solution
Advantages of using **Albums**:
* Albums are possible to be organised using folders. This isn't currently possible with *tags*.
* Since there can be hundreds of tags, it is a time consuming job to find a particular tag. Whereas using *Albums* makes it much easier to locate a photograph.
* Using *albums* will make *Shotwell* more attractive to normal people using either *Apple Photos* (image below) or *Adobe Lighthouse*.

# Description of the feature
The straightening tool (as I understand it) allows rotation of an image by giving ONE vertical or horizontal reference line.
Unfortunately very few lenses map parallel lines to parallel lines again, and you can only "straigten" (actually "level") ONE of those now non-parallel lines.
The idea is simple to use, but probably hard to implement: Allow the user to specify MULTIPLE reference lines, and use proojection transformation to make those MULTIPLE reference lines horizonal or vertical (i.e.: parallel again). Sorry that I can't give the mathematical formula, or the proof that this is actually possible, but Adobe's Lightroom has an automatic perspective correction that does such a thing (it even detects the reference lines by itself). Still it produces poor output for some input...
I don't know whether the measurement tool is the best tool to start this type of correction.
# Use cases
The classical case where a tall building was shot from the ground, producing "falling lines" ("Stürzende Linien" as we say in German).https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/2164Make "long shadows" more generic2022-06-19T21:02:09ZUlrich WindlMake "long shadows" more genericOperating System: (if feature is platform specific)

# Description of the feature
The new "long shadows" feature (as I read the docs) allows solid color fill with variable alpha for the shadow as I understand it.
Wouldn't it be most generic if the shadow created were a "alpha mask" so that it could be filled with solid color or pattern (Shift+B), a color gradient(G), or be painted with an arbitrary tool?

1) Type something, submit, hmm wrong password - I made a typo..
2) Carefully typing it again, submit, hmm wrong password..
3) I look into the top-right corner to see what layout is set - hmm wrong one is set..
The problem with the layout indicator is that it's in the area that is "grayed out" when the modal dialog is presented. I usually have to increase the backlight intensity or move a laptop display in different angles to actually see the current value. It's not ideal even on the external display that I'm using (maybe because it's some old TN panel) and I have to really go close to the display to again see the current value.
When the layout information would be somehow presented in the dialog itself (probably only when multiple layouts are available) it would be quite handy as I would notice it easier if it's not set to the one I need currently.

Thus till this issue is resolved I am gonna disable debian testing builds from the CI. We got to be careful onward though since our `rustc` version tests also use debian testing. (Maybe I could use the workaround just for the CI for a while?)
This affects Debian testing, probably Ubuntu `18:10` and our `COMPILING.md` docs. Ideally with the solution the user would to have to workaround this.
I got no idea if its possible to append the configure argument only for Debian derivatives with autotools.

Accented characters and odd symbols can usually be typed using a compose sequence. It would be extremely useful if gucharmap showed the compose sequence, e.g. `<compose> <C> <equal>` to type a euro symbol, along with the other character information that it already displays. (There are often several available compose sequences — maybe it should display them all, or try to intelligently choose the easiest for the user's current keyboard? But even displaying any one of them would be immensely useful.)
Since compose sequences depend on the user's configuration, they should be queried dynamically, based on the X11 Compose machinery.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/totem/-/issues/259"Totem could not get a screenshot of the video" error message on some videos2018-11-22T16:37:59ZLaurent Pointecouteau"Totem could not get a screenshot of the video" error message on some videosWhen trying to make a screenshot in Totem 3.26.2 on Arch Linux, the following error message appears: "Totem could not get a screenshot of the video. Animations add a sense of fluidity/UI polish, and also show the connection between to states (also switching them off can trigger bugs, e.g. in Builder), so it's useful to have them on, but the the current default is glacially slow and actually hinders interaction as the user waits for the animation to complete.
Though the Impatience extension works, it would seem better suited to being a tweak, since it's just customisation of a single parameter, and doesn't actually alter the Shell UI. Additionally, Shell extensions are fundamentally problematic since they directly monkey-patch the Shell code and are often blamed for and/or cause instability, so it would be great to avoid having to use an extension just for this parameter tweak.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/-/issues/527Keyboard layout switching popup steals focus and blocks input.2020-05-08T13:09:44ZGhost UserKeyboard layout switching popup steals focus and blocks input.New install of Fedora 28 w/Gnome 3.28, I have noticed a really annoying issue where switching keyboards using the "zenkaku hankaku" key on the Japanese keyboard results in the keyboard switch popup staying in the middle of the screen for...New install of Fedora 28 w/Gnome 3.28, I have noticed a really annoying issue where switching keyboards using the "zenkaku hankaku" key on the Japanese keyboard results in the keyboard switch popup staying in the middle of the screen for ~1-2 seconds.
This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that this popup steals focus and makes it impossible to type anything immediately after switching layouts. To make things worse, pressing any key during that period resets the timer for the popup.
When using the default key for switching super+space there is no popup with an abnormally long hang time.
That being said... why not just use the default hotkey.. well.. in Japan this key is commonly used to switch keyboard layouts in Japan. Myself as well as many Japanese people I know are used to using this key to switch layouts. There should be no reason why this key cannot be used.
I myself switch layouts often and cannot wait 1-2 seconds or more to begin typing again.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/simple-scan/-/issues/65Wrong gamma: HP Scanjet 5500c2019-07-22T22:11:11ZAlberto Salvia NovellaWrong gamma: HP Scanjet 5500cScans look quite dark.
