1. Have a large compressed file ("file.lzo") on a separate disk (e.g. a removable disk)
2. Open the file using file-roller
3. Extract "file" to a local folder (same filesystem as ~/.cache)
What happens:
1. File-roller copies (!) the compressed file to the local disk, to `~/.cache/fr-[random]/file.lzo`
2. File-roller extracts the compressed file to the same (!) folder (`~/.cache/fr-[random]/file`
3. File-roller copies (!) the uncompressed file to the target folder on the same file system
What should happen:
1. No need to copy the source file at all. This is just wasting resources.
2. File-roller may want to extract the file to the target dir directly (why not?)
3. If you really need to do any copy operation on the local filesystem, you can just use `mv` or `g_file_move` which will use native operations (simply creating a new and deleting the old hardlink) where possible.
If you really need to do two of these operations, please do not write the intermediate file to the filesystem. You can use the concept of pipes instead. For example, to extract a .tar.lzo file, you may start two processes. The first one reads the archive and decompresses it into a pipe. The second process will untar it and write it to disk.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/geary/-/issues/214Server-side search2023-11-06T19:04:49ZSever OrazServer-side search**Feature summary**

It would be nice to be able to retrieve search results from the mail server, so that the search results are not limited to what is already stored in the computer.
**How would you like it to work?**
Geary could connect to the mail server and issue a search query with search terms entered by the user.

The Android [K-9 Mail](https://k9mail.github.io/documentation/settings/account.html) application has such a feature, and it works very well at least with gmail.Cédric BellegardeCédric Bellegardehttps://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gcr/-/issues/17Get rid of some not so usefull comments (po files)2019-02-16T13:06:30ZscootergrisenGet rid of some not so usefull comments (po files)I see some of the extracted commects which the translators get to see in the po files are not so usefull so maybe remove the commect or improve them if they need to be there or maybe do so they dont get into the po files if the translato...I see some of the extracted commects which the translators get to see in the po files are not so usefull so maybe remove the commect or improve them if they need to be there or maybe do so they dont get into the po files if the translators dont need to see the comments.

```
DPMS (Energy Star):
all timers are reset to zero which disables any dimming of screen.
This is very surprising that this issue wasn't fixed till now because it is core functionality for any PC i think to dim screen if it is not used by user as it is done in windows or mac os x
Yet VTE ignores Ctrl or Shift-Ctrl modifiers and maps the key combinations to plain tab characters. It will be nice to fix this and use an escape sequences for these characters.
Although there is no standard for encoding these keys, Mintty [1] uses `^[[1;5I` and `^[[1;6I` for Ctrl-Tab and Shift-Ctrl-Tab.
What I want is to be able to set scroll speed in the system settings. This needs to be handled by the desktop environment / toolkit according to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/libinput/libinput/issues/185
Since this is (from my understanding) about communication between systemsettings (like from GNOME or KDE) and a toolkit (like Qt or GTK) it is probably good to have all parties on board, so it works with as many combinations as possible, maybe by introducing a standard way of communicating said setting(s).
As PulseAudio routing is sadly not often automatic, and even inexperienced users often switch between audio I/O devices, having something like a small gear icon in the audio OSD volume box would speed up the workflow, as currently the fastest way (shown in the screencast) I could find without using the keyboard was:
When scrolling with a touchscreen, page follows exactly as finger tip moves, no matter how slow the movement is, and no matter how long the finger stops moving but still touching the screen.
If finger is moving very slowly or being stationary while still touching the screen for a few seconds, touchscreen scrolling no longer works and swiping on the screen triggers text/image selection, until touching the zoom box.
# Description of the bug
I noticed one of my scripts is crashing on GIMP 2.10 even though it worked fine in 2.8. Eventually I managed to find the cause of the crash, which is a little-known regular expression feature of Script-Fu. The function re-match crashes when called with 3 arguments, and there is no match.
# Reproduction
Is the bug reproducible? Always
Reproduction steps:
1. Open Script-Fu console
2. Paste the following code: (re-match "a" "b" (make-vector 1))
Note: Third argument must be present otherwise it doesn't crash. The first two arguments must be such that re-match returns #f on them, otherwise it doesn't crash
Expected result:
#f is returned.
Actual result:
GIMP appears to hang and "script-fu.exe has stopped working" error window appears.
