Improve scheduled backup flow with external drives
Essentially the same usecase as what I filed in deja-dup#289 (closed) :
My usecase is my old tech-illiterate aunties who have difficulty using computers, and live hundreds of kilometers away, so would still need a way to get them to do backups somewhat regularly.
One of them has an external drive that I've readied for this scenario. I'd be curious to see if Pika Backup could be used for such usecases in the future, but it would need to:
- Remind the user every 2-3 weeks to grab their external storage drive (could be a big HDD thing, or a simple USB key depending on their setup) and plug that in so that Pika can snapshot the system
- When the backup/snapshot has been successfully completed, offer a convenience big blue button, inside an obvious "backup complete" confirmation/congratulations dialog, that allows to "Safely unmount the backup drive", so that she can click that and get the filesystem unmounted before she unplugs the drive.
...because I know my old aunts will never do their backups otherwise, and even if they do, they will never think of launching Nautilus after Pika is done with backups "just to cleanly unmount the drive's filesystem before yanking it", that's way too technical for them to have that kind of insight.
