Add Contribution Guidelines

Clara Hobbs requested to merge contributing into main

As mentioned in #8 (closed), it's nice to have a document to help new contributors to the project. Hopefully this will provide a useful guide. Of course, no such guide can ever be complete, but this should be a good start at least.
