Problem with 18.11rc on one computer
Hi,
Fedora 29 (fresh - a few days old) GNOME Shell 3.30.2 Problem with and without Wayland
Not getting 18.11rc working on one computer: repro 1 (I know this is a hacky attempt):
- cd ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
- git clone https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons.git desktop-icons@csoriano
- cd desktop-icons@csoriano
- git checkout tags/18.11rc
- login user and activate in gnome tweaks -> switch in gnome tweaks goes to "on", but no desktop icons are shown
repro 2:
- downloaded the zipfile of 18.11rc from https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons/tags and did the same as above with the same result
repro 3:
- used a vm with fedora 29 (same setup as my host - in this virtualbox-vm the extension works with 18.11rc!) and used the description of https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/ShellExtensions/desktop-icons
meson --prefix=$HOME/.local/ .build
ninja -C .build install
./export-zip.sh
- copied the zip to my host computer and unzipped it in ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/
- same non-working result
With 18.09b3 all 3 repros work on my host and I can see and use the desktop icons. Didn't want to install via https://extensions.gnome.org/ cause I wanted to control a clean install as long as this extension is not in the fedora repos.
I did something like that: journalctl /usr/bin/gnome-shell -f -o cat but I didn't get any further info, what could have happened. Any ideas, how I can investigate why 18.09b3 works but 18.11rc doesn't work on this single computer.
Thanks!
