Rename dialog does not work, and breaks shell in 3.34

I'm on Arch Linux with gnome-shell 3.34, and just upgraded the extension to the version that works with 3.34. I'm using Xorg.

I am seeing that the rename dialog is not working. It pups up, but typing has no effect, and only the "cancel" button can be clicked. This dismisses the dialog, but thereafter gnome-shell is unusable. Windows do not respond to mouse clicks and the alt-f2 menu cannot be brought up to restart the shell - I have to drop to a tty and do a killall -3 gnome-shell to restart the shell. Interestingly, other extensions can still be clicked on, such as dash to panel. I can use dash to panel to launch a new app, but then I can't interact with that app :p.
