Squeekboard 1.18.0 takes a long time to appear

Starting with 1.18.0, Squeekboard can take a very long time to appear, which grows even longer each time it shows up.

To reproduce: tap the keyboard button in phosh a few dozen times and notice how slow it gets.

This doesn't happen on 1.17.1, which also pops up visibly faster than 1.18.0 does right after starting.
