Faster copy-pasting workflow
My KeePassXC workflow:
- Super+3 to open it.
- (sometimes) Enter the password, hit Enter.
- First time: type to find, subsequently: Ctrl+F, type to find. The matching entry is already selected as I type.
- Ctrl+B, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+V, Tab, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+C, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+V.
In Password Safe so far I have:
- Super+3 to open it.
- (sometimes) Enter the password, hit Enter.
- Type to find.
Next, one option is to use my mouse to click the copy username and then the copy password button.
- This is slower than using just the keyboard.
- Next time I need to press Esc before I can search for the next entry.
Another option is to open the entry and use a similar sequence to KeePassXC with Shift+Ctrl+B/C.
- The addition of Shift makes it ever so slightly less convenient.
- I'm opening the entry for editing which adds some mental overhead ("don't overwrite the title or change something else by accident").
- Next time I need to press Esc before I can search for the next entry.
I'd like a workflow that's a bit faster than the current one. For example, Password Safe could somehow select the matching entry as you search, similarly to KeePassXC, letting you copy the username and password right away, perhaps even without Shift. And then, after a timeout, clear the search so next time you need a password you don't need to press Esc.
