Emeritus Membership Request for Christian Neumair
It would be great to have back the email alias firstname.lastname@example.org :-).
I had it over ten years, but it stopped working some weeks ago.
On IRC, @av kindly suggested to apply for membership.
Around 2002, I joined the German translation team around Sven Herzberg and Christian Meyer, and helped to translate various GNOME applications into German.
By occupying myself with the source code of the applications, I learned C programming and became a developer. I applied the Human Interface Guidelines to various dialogs, e.g. in Gnumeric or Nautilus. Many smaller contributions to various GNOME projects followed.
Since 2005, Nautilus was my main focus, where I eventually took over maintainership from Alex Larsson around April 2008. Some UI improvements have been implemented, including ellipsis for file names in icon view.
I also developed the nautilus-open-terminal extension, which allowed to open a terminal in Nautilus.
Since 2010, I work as a professional programmer. Unfortunately, this caused an abrupt end of my GNOME contributions.
I enjoy a lot to be part of the GNOME family! It would be an honor to become an emeritus member.
Sven Herzberg @herzi for translation into German
Alex Larsson @alexl for Nautilius
Jody Goldberg @jody for Gnumeric
