Sponsoring a x86 runner for GNOME Gitlab
This is a request coming from @averi of GNOME Infrastructure team. They are looking for a sponsor for a Gitlab runner and were wondering if GIMP would like to pay for it:
- The request would primarily be for one/two x86 runners, Linux OS
- They are going to manage them (so for us, it's only about sponsoring them financially, no admin tasks needed)
- It'd primarily be opening a new Hetzner account, adding GIMP's credit card, from there they'll handle everything
- Right now they have EX44, 39 EUR/month with a one off setup fee of 39 EUR
- So they could potentially go for another EX44 instance
- looking to deprecate the incredibly slow OSUOSL runners
- They are hoping to be able to get these runners soon (hopefully this week)
Personally I am fine with helping improving GNOME Infra (which will help GIMP and all other projects in there). I'm suggesting a vote:
-
👎 Thumb Down: not sponsoring a runner. -
👍 Thumb Up: sponsoring 1 runner (39 EUR one-time fee + 39 EUR per month; i.e. 468 EUR per year). -
✌️ Victory fingers: sponsoring 2 runners (78 EUR one-time fee + 78 EUR per month; i.e. 936 EUR per year).
Note: I am clicking the "Victory fingers" (2 runners) now so that it shows up as direct button and is easy to vote for, though my vote might be simple "Thumb Up" (1 runner) to start with. Still hesitating (but sponsoring 2 runners also feel like it may not be a bad idea if it means we get a more robust CI).
Note 2: if any question, I am guessing that @averi will be happy to answer them.
