Feedback on Adwaita refresh

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but it seems like the mockup (and related project) from https://gitlab.gnome.org/Teams/Design/visual-style-experiments/blob/master/style-experiment-aday-1.png has disappeared.

If https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uc_ARw3-aFg isn't misleading, Adwaita is currently being refreshed in line with the mockup. What I immediately noticed about the refresh is that it seems to be drawing very (too) heavily on MacOS/iOS, to the detriment of the current Adwaita theme's (reasonable degree of) distinctiveness/identity.

Specifically, the following are all markedly similar to MacOS' theme:

  • The darker grey, uniformly convex title/header bar
  • The much lighter title bar widgets
  • The small, rounded window control

Additionally, the toggle widget is now near-identical to iOS' (actually more like a previous iteration of that widget on iOS).

One other thing that looks off is the bottom-edge 3D effect on sensitive buttons - it doesn't match with the straight-on perspective of the rest of the toolkit, and when next to other insensitive buttons (e.g. in the back/forward pair) gives the effect of a keyboard key that's partially dislodged half popped out at its lower edge.

A copy of the mockup I'm referring to for reference:
