Screen recording enhancements
Possible enhancements for the built-in GNOME Shell screen recorder.
Custom notification with preview
Instead of a regular notification banner which isn't very well suited to this case it'd be cool to have a custom notification that's mostly just the screenshot itself, with a few action buttons as overlays. Since a taller banner would probably be too disruptive in the center top I'd move it to the bottom right.
Editing/annotation
Edit button in the notification opens an image editor app (e.g. Loupe) where you can draw on the image, etc.
It'd be cool if this could live directly in the shell screenshot tool, but an app is more realistic in terms of implementation effort.
Show selection size while resizing
Sometimes the exact size of the screenshot matters, so it'd be helpful to have an overlay showing the current size.
Webcam video overlay
Adds a little window with the video feed from the webcam above everything else happening in the shell (including in the overview) for recording screencasts/tutorials with presenter video.
Settings
Settings dialog with a handful of options, e.g.
- mp4/webm
- include microphone audio
- include system audio
- include parent windows with modal dialogs
- camera/microphone chooser
