Description
Created attachment 257697 Darker empty start
The contrast between of the 'empty' start image (https://extensions.gnome.org/static/images/star-empty.png) is far too low.
On an ageing LCD monitor the star is completely invisible. This is partly due to the monitor's reduced contrast ratio and yellowing backlight.
On a brand new LED-backlit monitor the star is still very hard to perceive.
The current colour of the star is #CCCCCC, which has a contrast ratio of 1.6:1 against a white background. This is well below the reccomendations of the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG20/)
Attached are two example images: a darker start, and a empty start with a border.
These both use #777777 as the colour, which has a contrast ratio of 4.5:1 and meets WCAG2.0 level AAA for the solid star, and AA for the outline star. The solid start could probably go as light as #898989 and still meet the AA level.
