I seem to almost always want to write a comment.
Properly because the way the danish team handles translation on a mailing list rather then using the website to reserve and submit files.
So i would like to be able to select the default choice of the action drop down list.
Maybe it could just remember the last choice and keep using that until the choice is changed by the user.https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/150No strings from .c in sysprof’s po files2023-02-13T12:30:05ZPiotr DrągNo strings from .c in sysprof’s po filesAfter @chergert pushed commit https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/sysprof/commit/9ccc35b9e4a133c53068c9d24d691813ce420ed1 for https://l10n.gnome.org/module/sysprof/, Damned Lies doesn’t extract strings from sysprof’s .c files anymore. After @chergert pushed commit https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/sysprof/commit/9ccc35b9e4a133c53068c9d24d691813ce420ed1 for https://l10n.gnome.org/module/sysprof/, Damned Lies doesn’t extract strings from sysprof’s .c files anymore.https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/147cherry-pick to Geary mainline fails: "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'che...2023-02-13T11:23:47ZTim Sabschcherry-pick to Geary mainline fails: "'NoneType' object has no attribute 'cherrypick_commit'"I changed the German translation for Geary branch 3.32 and tried to cherry-pick to the mainline branch. In the past there was some non-obvious way of doing this, that I could never remember, and subsequently took 10-15 minutes of poking around to work out. Now I can't even work it out. :)
A Delete button would be great.
NB, if someone could delete Geary's `geary-0.13` and `master` (see GNOME/geary#324) branches, I'd appreciate it.https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/134Avoid scrolling down to see table2022-11-28T15:04:13ZscootergrisenAvoid scrolling down to see tableEach time i visit https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/da/ i see the same information on the top 1/3 of the page i have to scroll past in order to get to the interesting part i want to see. I would like either a page with the table at the top so i dont have to scroll.
Or add a anchor somewhere before the table.
Like change:
<h2>Dansk <code style="font-weight: normal;">(da)</code></h2>
To:
<h2 href="#tablelinkname">Dansk <code style="font-weight: normal;">(da)</code></h2>
Or:
<h2 id="tablelinkname">Dansk <code style="font-weight: normal;">(da)</code></h2>
That way i can visit the page with:
https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/da/#tablelinkname
...and jump straight to the interesting part.
Now because of the use of a fixed menu on top of the page part of the content will be blocked by the menu. So either add the link some distance before the table and maybe add some top-padding to the table or just dont use fixed menu.
To make the user aware of the link you could add a link icon next to the text and underline the text when the cursor hovers just like when viewing files here on GitLab and i select link 13: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/blob/master/api/tests.py#L13https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/133Update info on how to translate freedesktop.org software2023-02-13T16:35:13ZscootergrisenUpdate info on how to translate freedesktop.org softwareI suggest to update the information on how to translate the modules/projects on https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/da/freedesktop-org/ui/

It would seem each time the releases changes the strings are changed in the translations (pot/po files) and then it becomes a mixture of translated and untranslated strings if the strings are not translated each time they change.
So instead of translators having to update the strings each time the releases change i suggest using placeholders.
So instead of:
msgid "GNOME 3.32 (development)"
msgid "GNOME 3.30 (stable)"
msgid "GNOME 3.28 (old stable)"
Have:
msgid "GNOME %s (%s)"
msgid "development"
msgid "stable"
msgid "old stable"
That way translators only have to translate the strings one time.
Maybe add some comments to help the translators:
#. Translators: example "GNOME 3.xx (development)"
msgid "GNOME %s (%s)"
#. Translators: example "GNOME 3.xx (development)"
msgid "development"
#. Translators: example "GNOME 3.xx (stable)"
msgid "stable"
#. Translators: example "GNOME 3.xx (old stable)"
msgid "old stable"
The string "Extra GNOME Applications (stable)" could also use it.

Developers are supposed to send a message to the i18n mailing list, and from there, translators have to translate the corresponding modules.
In Damned Lies, module maintainers are registered alongside their modules. It should be good to provide us a way to inform us about future release directly on the app. Thus, translator could see, on a time line what module will be released soon and prioritize their work on them.
For bigger releases (such as a group of modules released in the same time, uhm… GNOME version for instance ), modules could be grouped so that a unique release date is associated with a release event (registered in « releases » app, if I’m good enough).
This kind of functionality would be very helpful to organize team work (I think…) because taking initiative will be easier, without having to wait for authorization from anyone to translate. Let’s say there’s a string freeze, l10n app will register this so that anyone will know they have x weeks remaining to translate before the final release, and intermediate releases.
Let’s discuss about it, and if the idea retains your attention, I’ll propose you some models and develop it in the next months (not very available in those times…)https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/96Improve contrib instructions for Freedesktop projects2021-06-18T20:11:50ZRafael FontenelleImprove contrib instructions for Freedesktop projectsCurrent instructions on how to send translation from D-L to Freedesktop's Gitlab doesn't help much a less experienced translator. Currently, the translation workflow and the fact that Damned Lies pushes directly to git prevents this.
Can Damned Lies please be modified to create merge requests instead of pushing directly to git? This could be done by pushing changes to Damned Lies’ fork of each module, and creating a merge request based on that. Or there might be a simpler way to do it directly using GitLab’s API (I have no idea).https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/74Multiple data_dirs are not supported2018-05-22T12:22:48ZBugzillaMultiple data_dirs are not supported## Submitted by Piotr Drąg `@piotrdrag`

## Description
Hi,
I'll leave it to you to decide if this behavior in damned-lies is desired or not.
Damned-lies shows alerts about "On-going activities in same module:" to show that there already are translations, but only when the step "Reserve for translation" has been chosen in another branch.
If a translation instead was added just as an attachment to a comment, it will be invisible on the pages for other branches.
We ran into this recently when translations attached on https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/recipes/master/po-data/sv not was seen in the stable 1.0 branch at https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/recipes/recipes-1.0/po-data/sv , leading to some double work.
Would it be possible to have the "On-going activities" message also show when there are just are comments with attached translations at another branch?https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/71Translation tool shouldn't allow linefeeds in .desktop files2018-05-22T12:21:53ZBugzillaTranslation tool shouldn't allow linefeeds in .desktop files## Submitted by Jeremy Bicha `@jbicha`

In the git repository you have a translation like this:
#~ msgctxt "shortcut window"
#~ msgid "View"
#~ msgstr "Visualitza"
that when an application is built is not showed.
However, dammed lies process the PO file in a way that the string is:
msgctxt "shortcut window"
msgid "View"
msgstr "Visualitza"
and the string that in the application will not show as translated is shown as such as the translation statistics.
This is really misleading because you think that the file is completely translated according to the statistics but it is not true.
This behaviour caused the Catalan translate team two miss updates two applications already.https://gitlab.gnome.org/Infrastructure/damned-lies/-/issues/67Add filtering to columns of tables2024-01-18T18:44:07ZBugzillaAdd filtering to columns of tables## Submitted by Alexandre Franke `@afranke`
