Archive Ekiga ?

CC'ing @ededu as maintainer as per https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/ekiga/-/blob/master/ekiga.doap ; Cannot find account for Damien in GNOME Gitlab.

Are there still realistic plans to work on Ekiga?

  • Last tarball release in 2013: ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/sources/ekiga
  • Last code commits were in September 2016: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/ekiga/commits/master
  • https://www.ekiga.org/ exists (though using TLS <1.2), last news update in 2015.
  • Package removed from Debian in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=911593 :

The more immediate concern is that ptlib is one of the packages blocking the openssl 1.0 removal and it doesn't look like anyone here or in other distros is working on fixing that issue. ptlib and opal haven't had new releases since 2016. There was this recent commit but it doesn't look promising for openssl 1.1 support either.

  • https://l10n.gnome.org/module/ekiga/ is still active, so translators might spend time though no releases might be planned.
  • https://bugzilla.gnome.org/buglist.cgi?resolution=---&product=ekiga lists 122 open tickets.
