shift-left-click in vim in gnome-terminal acts like page-down
Hello,
this was first reported to Debian at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1050729 , where it was replicated (with vte 0.73.93 but not with vte 0.72.2, independently of the version of gnome-terminal, and on Debian but not on Ubuntu) and I was asked to report it here. A part of it may be related to #2593 (closed) .
I noticed a strange behavior recently, that was not present in July (before Debian upgrades). When I run vim (gtk3 or basic) in a gnome terminal (or in kgx), if I keep SHIFT pressed and left-click with the mouse, the behavior I get is the same as pressing PageDown. I tried it with another account that has no .vimrc and got the same issue. To compare, I have run vim in xterm and konsole and did not have this weird behavior: shift+double-click selected a word as expected.
I may be getting the PageDown behavior in addition to the normal behavior. If I go to the end of the file so PageDown has no effect, shift+double-click does select a word.
PageDown seems to be the expected behavior when rotating the wheel of the mouse while pressing SHIFT, in case that matters.
In vim, I have the option mouse=a (the default). I can work around this by changing this option to disable use of the mouse, but that's a bit extreme.
