1. Open a video file ( say, movie.mp4 ) in totem and let it play for a couple of seconds.
2. Open a MP3 file ( with cover art, say audio1.mp3 ) in totem. The totem main window now has the MP3 cover art of audio1.mp3, which is as expected.
3. Open a MP3 file ( without cover art, say audio2.mp3 ) in totem. The totem main window now has the last played frame of "movie.mp4", and the audio of audio2.mp3 keeps playing.
It is better to display a blank screen -- or -- a generic mp3 icon as backdrop here.

## Description
Not sure if this entry should go in Totem or GStreamer, but it affects Totem at least indirectly.
It would be nice to allow to normalize audio to some target level so each video (or audio) have the same perceived loudness. I think this is known as ReplayGain but please double check if you know better.
This is particularly useful when watching series as the volume could be different between seasons or even between episodes.
It could also be useful when watching movies on a laptop, where you probably don't have a fancy and powerful audio setup but only crappy laptop speakers, as movies are usually quite quiet most of the time.https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/totem/-/issues/68Volume not updated on start2018-05-24T10:43:44ZBugzillaVolume not updated on start## Submitted by Bastien Nocera `@hadess`

## Description
The default deinterlacer in Totem is some kind of a frame-rate-doubling deinterlacer. For some purposes, it is not good enough.
To reproduce the bug, you can obtain a copy of "James Last Live in Berlin" music DVD. This DVD is not interlaced (probably made from a film roll) even though it presents itself as interlaced. So the deinterlacer makes jagged and flashy edges, this is annoying.
There are other instances (mostly involving thin static diagonal lines, e.g. from cobwebs) where a frame-rate-doubling deinterlacer can lead to a shaky video, but, as I am at the GUADEC conference, I cannot present you concrete examples with this effect being annoying enough.
While in this case the bug is that the deinterlacer is activated by mistake, I think that a different deinterlacer should be used by default, the one that tolerates progressive content and mostly-static thin lines better. I am talking about the equivalent of the "pp=fd" video filter from mplayer.

## Description
Please describe the problem:
The totem (both gstreamer and xine) progress thumb can be persuaded to stay at the end of the progress bar even though the file is playing somewhere near the beginning.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Totem a-long-file.mp3
2. File starts playing
3. Seek by dragging the progress thumb to almost the end of the file (about 97%)
4. Just as playback starts at the new position drag the progress thumb to the very end of the bar.
5. Playback stops, the thumb remains at the end of the bar.
6. Hit play button.
7. Playback starts again from the beginning but the thumb remains unmoved at the end of the bar.
Actual results:
The thumb stays at the end of the progress bar even though the file is currently playing somewhere near the beginning.
Expected results:
The thumb should indicate the correct position within the file.
Does this happen every time?
I can reproduce it every time but I suspect that it is quite easy to make it not happen by varying the timing or the length of the file. I used a CBR 128kbit/s MP3 file that was an hour long.

## Description
Gstreamers's textoverlay element has a lot of properties that are currently not controllable from totem. It would be nice if totem could allow changes to them, so that the appearance of subtitles could be fine tuned.
It doesn't have to be in the gui, I see how it could clutter totem's minimalistic interface. But if there could merely be gconf keys, that would be enough. Here are the properties:
