Rethink sysprof-cli hint
Currently, Debian's sysprof is a single binary package (including the library, the GUI app, the CLI utility, etc.). I am considering splitting the sysprof packaging. Probably the biggest benefit is that a user who installs Builder would then get Builder and not have an extra Sysprof app installed automatically. But the Profiler feature will still work in Builder and users could still install the full Sysprof app if they want.
If I use Run with Profiler in Builder, I get a message Did you know you can use sysprof-cli to record?
The message links to help:sysprof/profiling#sysprof-cli
This is a bit awkward for distros to handle. That page includes information that assumes the full Sysprof app is installed.
I believe that Builder doesn't even need sysprof-cli installed for the Profiler feature to work.
Suggestion
Maybe only show that message if both sysprof
and sysprof-cli
are installed to $PATH
.
