Document Scanner uses JPEG compression before saving (during scanning)
I have HP Deskjet F2483. Whenever I scan something there are ugly JPEG compression artifacts on the image and it doesn't matter in what format I save the image. When I use Skanlite app there is "Scanner specific Options" tab where I can chose compression (none or JPEG). So Skanlite app allows me to scan without compression - I scanned the same image and can't see any compression artifacts.
Added a debug file. You can search for "jpeg". If I understand correctly, there are options - to use or not to use jpeg compression and level of compression.
Really hope this will help cause right now Document Scanner is unusable for me - it gives me UGLY scans. output-scan
