How should nested tags be written to JPEG files?
I'm importing a library from Windows Live Photo Gallery, which I have used to apply nested tags. These tags are stored in the images as, for example, Subjects/Animals/Sheep
. When imported into Shotwell, these tags are listed in the sidebar as Subjects
>Animals
>Sheep
and Subjects-Animals-Sheep
. When I go to modify the tags in Shotwell, they are listed as Sheep
, Subjects-Animals-Sheep
. If I then save the tags back to the file, viewing the image properties from my file manager lists the tags as Subjects
, Animals
, Sheep
, Subjects-Animals-Sheep
.
It seems that when the tags are saved back to the file, they lose their hierarchy data.
Is this the case? If I remove the redundant tag Subjects-Animals-Sheep
how would Shotwell import the remaining tags into a fresh database? I assume I'd be left with only a flat list of tags, all at the root level.
I'm using Shotwell 0.28.2.
