Why does Shotwell create (large) jpgs for every RAW file imported in native folder?
I'm using the latest shotwell and tried importing one folder with my CR2 raw files.
While Shotwell completed it smoothly, it created quite large JPG files for every Raw out there. To give an example, one raw file is 45mb, but shotwell's jpg is up to 13mbs (around 6.2mb as embedded - but if those are deleted it creates those extra-large ones of ~13mbs)!
Shouldn't the program create only small thumbnails in .cache folder? Is there a way to block creating these large jpgs?
Basically it would be nice if Shotwell would:
- Create only small thumbnails upon import in .cache dir.
- Create big JPGs only if any of these files would be enlarged by user, but also put in .cache dir.
Currently it messes up my folders where I just want to keep my RAW files. So when I want to import RAWs in Darktable it sees duplicate images if Shotwell imported it previously (unless I check "don't import jpg" but then I opt-out for all regular JPG files too!). Not to mention that 72 raw files take additional ~360MBs for embedded JPGs!
