Make it easier to exit single-picture view
Right now, when viewing a single picture in the content area, there are only two actions that seem to kick you out of that view:
- pressing Esc (intuitive; but since you're viewing images, you're using the mouse/touchpad, so you need to switch input devices, hence not the first thing that comes to mind)
- double-clicking the image (completely unintuitive to me; I am used to opening things by double-clicking, closing them this way is weird; also note that I just noticed that you can do this after years of using Shotwell)
I would suggest to add the following two additional methods of getting out of picture view:
-
clicking the already selected item in the sidebar again (i.e. the date/directory/tag view you were in before opening the specific single-picture view) (this is what I tried again and again in the past, being frustrated that it does not work)
-
add an overlay (x) button that vanishes whenever you don't move the mouse
