Mandatory: Shotwell version the issue was seen with

Shotwell recognizes all directories within my ~/ folder
What was actually happening
Hi, I'm using ubuntu 16.04 and shotwell does not recognize all but 1 sub directory in my home directory.
Steps to reproduce the issue
installed shotwell 0.30.1 using the flatpak at https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
When I run Shotwell (flatpak run org.gnome.Shotwell) and try to import a folder; only 1 directory displays within my home directory. The directory permissions of the only directory that does display are:
drwxrwxr-x
I have several other directory within my ~/ directory that have the same permissions.
the 'testingforshotwell' directory also has directory permissions of drwxrwxr-x
The terminal also includes the following:
Gtk-Message: 09:49:38.887: Failed to load module "unity-gtk-module"
L 2 2018-10-29 09:49:39 [CRT] LibraryFiles.vala:18: Failed to query fs type: Error getting filesystem info for /home/skors/testingforshotwell: No such file or directory
(shotwell:2): Gtk-WARNING **: 09:49:41.982: Could not load a pixbuf from icon theme.
This may indicate that pixbuf loaders or the mime database could not be found.
