Original description:
I upload each event to a new album on Facebook/G+ and when I select the option to upload to a new album, Shotwell offers me a bit unhelpful name "Shotwell Connect". Suggest this could be replaced by the name of the event. After all, when I wanted to have an album like "Shotwell connect", I would create it just once and then I would upload to it, but if I do not want to have such an album and want the events to correspond to albums, I have to name them manually everytime I upload new photos.

I tried to dig into the code, but I struggle with the way to get the Name of the event programatically. In http://redmine.yorba.org/projects/shotwell/repos itory/revisions/master/entry/plugins/shotwell-publishing/PicasaPublishing.vala
string last_album = host.get_config_string(LAST_ALBUM_CONFIG_KEY, "");
is (I think) supposed to get this, but it gets the last album that was uploaded to. Is there a documentation of possible values of host.get_config_string ? I cannot find it in the source and the documentation online is not detailed enough. (and as far as I know I cannot use vala interactively as python, right?)

get_config_string() is simply a method that allows for arbitrary string data to be fetched from GSettings.
I think the primary problem here is that the event (or tag, I suppose) name is not being passed through to the plugin. Plugins exist behind a kind of wall; they don't have direct access to Shotwell's interior data structures. We would need to extend the plugin API to allow for that, or else simply provide a default name when the photos are passed to the plugin for sharing.
Changing the API is tricky business, but if you want to give it a go, please do.

I doubt my skills are up to that. I can do oneliners and stuff, but nothing bigger.
