Original description:
Andreas Wallberg suggested on the mailing list that Shotwell should be able to display an emblem (i.e. badge) for each tag, superimposed on each photo that has that tag. Presumably the user would be able to enable this only for certain tags. Here's Andreas's suggestion in full:
Would it be possible to show a tag as a small badge somewhere on top of a picture using a previously determined icon for that particular tag, similar to the way stars are shown when pictures are rated. The list of keywords under a picture can oftentimes be too long to be shown in its entirety and some tags may be more important than others. This "necklace of badges" should preferably be possible to a toggle between show/hide states.
There are many uses for this. I have a specific use case as an example for when this would be very helpful, namely to tag a picture as
"Published", which would help me know which images I have selected for my own photo blog. Come to think of it, perhaps adding such a badge automatically when pictures are published through Shotwell itself, such as on facebook, would generally be helpful to many. In the case of facebook, a small blue facebook-icon would indicate that a picture had been sent to facebook.
