Option to discard RAW files
Here, I will copy the previous request from Launchpad (all former issues have not been auto imported here ?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/696256
Please describe the problem you are trying to solve
TLDR : developing photos is OUR job, only if we want, many persons don't want to add FALSE (and bad) JPG from RAW in our photos folders and put the mess in them. We want Shotwell to organize only finished photos, and not to mix with temporary bad developed photos.
For the moment I can't (really can't) use Shotwell if it works with raws.
We have a folder with all our photos, classified as we want into our subfolders. And we configured Shotwell to follow this folder and import all new files, and update all modifications (with tags inside JPG).
This folder is sync (with syncthing or other) with other computers, and with a server for backup.
Our Raws are in the same folder, same classification, etc. But Raws is for developing photos and it's OUR job to do that ! We absolutely don't want to have automatic ugly JPGs from our Raws, added to our folder and especially then : added to all sync computers !
Possible solutions
-
Add a very very simple option, to enable/disable Raw support. There is already an option to choose the "RAW developer" (Camera / Shotwell…) : just add "None" in this select menu and then never develop RAW.
-
Add a more complete solution to finely choose filetypes Shotwell will take in account : a list of checkboxes of all filetypes Shotwell currently knows (jpg, etc) and let us tick them or not.
