Description
The iAUDIO 5 is similar to the G2 and X5 devices of the same vendor (see bug #333075 and bug #333101). I have already filed a bug-report against hal so that it will hopefully soon be detected as a portable audio device (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6101). This bug-report also has the output of lshal attached. The easiest way to identify the device is probably to use the storage.model which is set to "iAUDIO 5".
The device has a simple UI to create and edit a playlist. I don't know if it is also capable of reading externally created playlists. The device stores it's music in the /MUSIC directory and its playlist is stored as /SYSTEM/PLAYLIST.DPL. The file is a simple one line per entry list of 8.3 filenames. Here's a simple playlist with two songs:
/MUSIC/BLUESK2/10-CEL1.MP3
/MUSIC/BLUESK2/13-DAG1.MP3
These do actually refer to
/MUSIC/Blue Skied An' Clear - Disc 1/10 - Celia's Dream.mp3 /MUSIC/Blue Skied An' Clear - Disc 1/13 - Dagger.mp3
