rhythmbox-metadata process constantly fills ALL of the memory, then drops to 1% until killed

Description
When first started, rhythmbox's rhythmbox-metadata process tends to grab all available memory (up to 1.1 GB) for a few seconds, then releases everything for a while. Then it slowly creeps up to 1.1 GB again. This repeats indefinitely until I manually kill the offending process, at which point it respawns, although no longer taking up more than 10 MB.
