Example of multiple genres in tags
Hello,
I have a fairly large music library (~16'000 songs), and I use MusicBrainz Picard for tagging. One of the conventions I've seen it use to support multiple genres for songs is to separate them by a semi-colon followed by a space (e.g. "Rock; Classic Rock; Progressive Rock"). It turns out other people use the same convention, with or without the leading space (see for instance http://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2011/03/12/multiple-genres-in-mp3s).
Supposedly, for ID3v2.4 tagged files, "Version 2.4 of the specification prescribes that the text fields (all the fields starting with a T except TXXX) can contain multiple values separated by a null character." [source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3]. Ogg files and some other formats have native support for multiple genre tags [source: http://www.xiph.org/vorbis/doc/v-comment.html]: "Field names are not required to be unique (occur once) within a comment header.".
It would really be helpful if Rhythmbox were able to recognize these situations and present a consistent view, leading to the same tracks to appear under different genres, and splitting the ID3 tag on semi-colons when storing data in the library. As it is of now (see attached screenshot) the genre panel for me is nearly useless. Sure, you can search for a genre, but you can't exclude easily - without a lot of clicking - related genres that are super-strings of a given genre. Also, it's ugly and not very good for browsing when opposed to searching (that is, not having already a clear idea what you want to listen to), because it's not naturally sorted ("Rock; Jazz" comes before "Jazz; Rock") :-p.
This would imply taking a decision about which tracks to show when selecting two genres with a non-null intersection. Taking the set union seems the natural answer, but you have to choose what to sort on in the Genre column, if it is visible in the main pane.
PS. Is this suitable for the "gnome-love" keyword, or is it too difficult?

At the moment when playing audio you can have a blank black screen or a visualizer. It would be great if there was a plugin to show cover art fetched from amazon or another web service whenever an audio track was being played. If the cover art was cached in the same location as Rhythmbox all the better.
The easiest would be for most of the generic classes to be split out of __init__.py (that's the ArtDisplayWidget and FadingImage objects, and the merge_with_background and merge_pixbufs functions).
That'd leave me with ~100 lines to reimplement for Totem (for a sidebar widget).

## Description
In preferences dialog, Rhythmbox is currently using a simple text entry plus a button to choose the library's directory.
The "right" widget here should be a GtkFileChooserButton[1] in select folder mode. The same widget is yet used in Podcast section to set up the download directory for podcasts.
Please also note that there is a GNOME HIG rules breakage here: the text entry (same will occur with GtkFileChooserButton, it's a drop down list[2]) should have a text label providing an access key. On current setup the label is missing and the access key is on section header (bolded text).

As does liferea, it should be possible to add commands as podcast feeds. The idea is to be able to generate feeds locally, for instance to filter an online feed or generate a podcast from a directory or whatnot.
Akregator is able to use launch a command and use its result when an executable file is given as the feed. Liferea has an "advanced" button which allows to select the feed type (url, local, command).

## Description
I think there are a few problems with the podcast status column.
* It uses a fixed width column but includes text. This doesn't work. We should
either not use a fixed width or not use text.
* The use of the term "Paused" is very confusing since we also use that term as
a playback state. It is also misleading when it is used to mean something like
not ready to play.
* When a track is downloaded and ready to play there is no need to have an ugly
progress bar with the work Completed in it.
* The column heading is misleading because it doesn't indicate that it really
means "Download Status".
* Why should we display a "Failed" message when we already have an error icon
available.
So, what might be better?
How about replacing the column with one that has an icon for:
* Download / Get
* Downloading
* Error
* Delete
The delete will only appear when the file has downloaded. It might be nice to
have the tree row look dimmer when the file isn't ready to play.
