Screenshot of PiTiVi displaying with a monospace font.
If the user is running a desktop environment other than GNOME and gnome-settings-daemon is not running in the background, the PiTiVi UI will show up in a Monospace font looking. Objectively it does not impact usability, subjectively it's rather ugly and unprofessional-looking.
One problem with this is that neither in the UI itself nor on stdout/stderr is there any message that would make this easy to debug. And once you do figure it out, things might get aggravated by a bug with gnome-settings-daemon where the mouse cursor will become invisible if the gnome-settings-daemon "cursor" plugin is active.
After it has been assured that the "cursor" plugin is disabled and gnome-settings-daemon has been started, everything works just fine. I tested openbox, fluxbox, i3 and XFCE and the behaviour described above was always the same. PiTiVi 0.94 or the latest daily build (as of yesterday evening) makes no difference.
