Pan 0.146-1 build 1 Will Not Display Any Article Bodies Using NEWSDEMON's Usenet Service

Operating System: Using Mint Linux 20 on a laptop

Pan Version Installed: pan 0.146-1 build 1 (from Ubuntu Repositories).

Usenet Service Provider: Newsdemon. Newsdemon reported on Dec 7, 2020 that it switched the hosting of its usenet server and this switch caused article header numbers to be shuffled.

Previous History with Pan: I've used previous version(s) of pan without difficulty using newsdemon as my usenet service provider. Best newsreader for Linux; the rest are lousy.

Background: A few months ago I did a fresh install of Mint Linux 20 over Mint 19 where I intentionally overwrote everything including my home directory and my previous working install of pan. A few days ago I did a fresh install of pan, configured the news server, pan automatically retrieved the newsgroups available, I subscribed to a newsgroup and retrieved the subject headers for that newsgroup.

Issue: However, when I clicked or double clicked on the subject line headers nothing happens. The article body is not retrieved. Unable to retrieve or view any article bodies.

  1. After pan retrieved the list of newsgroups available on the news server I checked the event log and found the following errors: Screenshot_from_2020-12-21_09-18-56

  2. Text Editor (xed) text file of the runlog is attached here:

runlog

  1. pan hasn't crashed but here's a text editor (xed) file of the backtrace anyway:
    back_trace

  2. (Updated 12/22/2020) In my initial bug report I wasn't sure if the runlog I provided included any of my attempts to retrieve article bodies by clicking on the subject line headers. So here's what the debug output showed when I did attempt to retrieve an article body:

runlog_after_trying_to_retrieve_article_bodies

At the top of this runlog you'll see my three attempts to retrieve an article by clicking on the subject line. In each case the debug messages seem to indicate that Pan was successful in retrieving the article body. Unfortunately nothing ever appeared in pan's article window pane. The debug information below the article retrieval attempts occurred without any actions on my part with the pan GUI.
