FAT flash in nonroot account shows up as locked and root-owned
Steps to reproduce
0.1. Be in Linux where you are not yet logged into any account. For example, have the screen saver on with the lock on; or awaken from sleep mode.
- Be in a Linux nonroot account.
- Have Files open.
- Insert into a USB port a flash drive that's formatted for Microsoft MS-DOS FAT (in my case, all files show up in Linux as owned by my main nonroot account).
- Navigate in Files to where the drive is represented by one directory (not the directories it contains).
- The folder icon shows an X.
- Check Properties for permissions. Notice that editing is limited to root, even though that's not the normal condition for the thumb drive.
- Ejecting and reinserting (thereby remounting) repeats the problem.
- Close (quit) Files.
- Open (start) Files.
- Navigate as above.
- The folder icon shows a drive picture as part of the icon.
- Check Properties for permissions. Notice that you can now edit (write, delete, etc.) in the nonroot account.
Reproducible in:
- Other: Fedora 28 Linux and Files 3.28.1-stable (I'm not set up to test an unstable version)
Current behavior:
See STR, above.
Expected behavior
Able to use files as in last step of STR, above.
