Can't create a link if the user doesn't have write permissions
Steps to reproduce
- enable the "create a link" menu item
- go to
/usr
- right-click on something: it's not available
- going to
admin:///usr
"fix" the issue
Reproducible in:
3.26 at least
Current behavior
The link is created in the same folder as the linked item, which:
- makes no sense, the point of creating a link is being able to access the item from an other place on the file tree
- prevent creation of links to places with no "write" user permission
Expected behavior
The behavior should be similar to the "Copy to" menu item, with a file chooser dialog asking where to put the link. The "Create a link" menu item can be moved to this menu section btw.
Additional information
"Type=Link
.desktop files" are better anyway
