Copy and paste file naming detect numeric ending
Use cases
Duplicating a file via copy & paste generates a few names like this (shown in that sort order by nautilus):
- file-v1.txt # original
- file-v1 (3rd copy).txt # 3rd copy
- file-v1 (4th copy).txt # 4th copy
- file-v1 (another copy).txt # 2nd copy
- file-v1 (copy).txt # 1st copy
IMHO it should detect the numeric ending and create a sequence based on that. Like many other tools also do.
Desired behavior
Name the files like this:
- file-v1.txt
- file-v2.txt
- file-v3.txt
- file-v4.txt
- file-v5.txt
Benefits of the solution
A numeric sequence is much more understandable than the current endings. It would also provide an understandable sort order.
Possible drawbacks
I don't see any.
